At Pinwheel Clinic, we offer comprehensive psychological and psychoeducational assessments for children and youth across Victoria and Greater Victoria. We are a physician‑ and child psychologist‑led clinic specializing in child mental health, learning difficulties, ADHD assessment, school challenges, behavioural concerns, and gifted assessment.
We do not begin with treatment recommendations. We begin with a structured, evidence‑based evaluation.
Before suggesting counselling, academic intervention, medication, or school accommodations, we complete a careful clinical review so that next steps are informed by data and not guesswork.
What’s Included in a Psychoeducational Assessment?
Each assessment is tailored to the referral question. The scope is discussed clearly at intake so expectations are defined from the beginning.
Depending on the concern, the process may include:
Clinical History
A detailed discussion of developmental, academic, medical, and emotional background.
Standardized Testing

Testing is structured and evidence-based.
Clinical Interpretation
Results are interpreted by a licensed psychologist. When appropriate, medical factors are considered in collaboration with our physician as part of our coordinated clinical framework.
Feedback Meeting
Parents receive a clear explanation of findings. If diagnostic criteria are met, this is discussed carefully and in context. Questions are encouraged so families leave with clarity rather than confusion.
Written Report
- Families receive a structured written report outlining:

Reports are designed to be shared with schools, physicians, or other providers to guide planning.

Not every child requires ongoing treatment. Sometimes assessment clarifies that strengths are intact and support can be focused or time-limited.

Fees
Fees vary depending on the scope and complexity of the assessment.
A $500 retainer deposit is required to reserve assessment appointments. The retainer is refundable with seven or more days’ notice before the first appointment and before questionnaires are completed.
The full fee range and scope are reviewed during intake so families understand the commitment before proceeding.
